Why I Won't Tell You to Avoid Sugar

I see more and more fear-mongering messages about sugar, and how eating it will cause any number of things to happen, including:

  • Make your cancer come back

  • Speed up the growth rate of your tumor by “feeding it”

For the record, this is WRONG! Not only wrong, but incredibly harmful!

There is not one food that will SINGLE-handedly cause cancer. That includes sugar.

Let me explain why it’s both NOT true and harmful.

Research doesn’t support it.

But what about all those Pubmed articles, Dr Otto Warburg’s work on cancer cell metabolism, and all those other reasons to eliminate sugar from your diet?

They’re based on rat studies at best. More often than not, they're based on cell studies. That’s not evidence!

You’re more than cells in a petri dish. Or a rat in a cage. You are so much more complex!

Which is probably why the big three cancer organizations (National Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society, American Institute for Cancer Research) agree: there is NOT enough evidence to directly link sugar intake to increased cancer risk or cancer spread.

In fact, no human study shows that eating sugar will make your cancer worse, or eliminating sugar will make your cancer disappear.

Where does it stop

When will you feel you’ve restricted enough sugar. Enough foods that break down directly into sugar in the body (other macronutrients can also make glucose by the way).

Will it stop at desserts and sweets? Or include refined foods? What about fruits? Or vegetables with higher starch content. What about grains?

Food restrictions backfire

You wanna know how to increase your cravings for sugar? Make it off limits.

Listen, I’m not saying to eat sugar or sugary foods all day, every day. Chances are, you won’t feel very good after that. But I AM saying that demonizing one food substance in the supposed name of health is NOT healthy!

I’m here to support your health in a way that’s sustainable, meets you where you’re at, and ultimately gets you where you want to go.
